Field Trips

gingerbread house

When HST students are on break we fill our time with little adventures. On our latest venture out into the world we came across a ginger bread house the size of a playhouse. It was made from real gingerbread! You can visit it at http://olsensdanishvillagebakery.com/

Field Trips

Pygmy Hippo San Diego Zoo

We decided to break out of Los Angeles Friday and visit Coronado High School. Traffic was smooth and with a few hours to kill before the bell, we stopped at the Zoo.  The most intriguing little pygmy hippo lives there. He ate his leaves and chilled in the Sun, it’s wonderful how you can find things in life that leave you breathless.

Field Trips

Halloween Night

Don’t miss out on Halloween Horror Nights 2010 at Universal Studios Hollywood. This year they have A Nightmare on Elm Street attraction which takes you to Springwood High!! The park is open until 2am, an event that shouldn’t be missed by any fun-loving HS student. Hope to see you there!

HST Warehouse Field Trip

The thing about fashion week is that it always makes you want to revamp your wardrobe but if you don’t have the bucks, hunt through the thrift and vintage stores!  Vintage clothes are made of higher quality fabrics that look more expensive then they actually are and wearing second-hand is environmentally friendly. You don’t have to spend big money to look great. We visited The Warehouse in Echo Park, a second hand clothing oasis that even offers an in store tailor! Visit your local vintage store and see how you can improve your HS wardrobe.

It was nice to see all the clothes organized and clean, some vintage stores are such a hot mess you don’t even want to shop!

All the décor was handmade or vintage.

Field Trips

Skirball Center

Students love field trips because it feels like being released from prison for the day, the outside world seems like a magical place of wonder.

Life should always be that way, not only when we are kept from it. If you go to a Museum, Zoo, Science Center, or anywhere that requires your parents to sign a permission slip, we would love to hear about it!! You may not be able to travel the world like jet-setting celebrities, but at least you can enjoy your field trips knowing that after graduation the world will be yours to conquer.
